Strade Bianche weekend (Gran Fondo & Pro race) accompanied by ex world champion Johan Museeuw!
Friday, 2nd of March: pick-up at Pisa airport (on request Florence airport)
Today our guides will meet you around 11am at the Pisa airport and will assist you to our minivan. We collect you from Florence airport and bring you to our accommodation in the centre of Siena where we will spend the next 3 nights in our 4 star hotel. The first job will be to assemble your bike and Go4Cycling staff will be on hand if you have mechanical problems or need any other assistance. We will then leave for a short ride to discover the area around the place where we stay. Our group leaders and special guest Johan Museeuw will explain the whole itinerary and present the programme of the following three days. This is a good occasion to ask any questions you might have but of course also to meet the people who you will be spending your holiday with.
Saturday, 3rd of March: Strade Bianche pro race day
In the nine years since Strade Bianche arrived on the pro cycling calendar, it has quickly attained a revered status among pros, fans and the media. This year Strade Bianche earned a place in the World Tour, amongst other elite races. They call it, “The Youngest Classic,” and, “The New Monument.”
In an epoch when the fever for competitive cycling and adventure riding have converged in the form of gravel racing, Strade Bianche resonates deeply with its signature white gravel roads paired with traditional tarmac racing. The route traverses ancient towns and ends in a devastating 18% climb to the finish that provides a visual spectacle on par with all of our sport’s best annual moments. The giants of the peloton come out and swing hard at Strade Bianche, fighting for the win in front of the cycling-mad tifosi, who pack the final kilometer and the spectacular finish chute in Siena’s town square. It is a race fit for kings, and in his final season, Fabian Cancellera proved why he has earned the crown of a classics legend.
Our programme for today: We will be at the start in the center of Siena. Once we’ve seen the official start here we will continue our journey to view the race at a few locations on the course. On request we can provide you with access to the VIP-areas at the start and the finish to watch the riders up close.
Sunday, 4th of March: Gran Fondo Strade Bianche
This is your challenge day! It will be an unique experience to ride along ex world champion Johan Museeuw!
The Gran Fondo Strade Bianche is a mass start cyclo race with the same exhilarating as the pro riders did the day before. We will assist you at the start, provide an extra feed zone along the course and meet you at the finish at the Piazza del Campo in Siena.
Race entry is not included in this package, but can be arranged upon request.
Monday, 5th of April: Goodbye from Go4Cycling. Drop off around 1pm at Pisa airport (on request Florence airport)
This itinerary is based upon the 2017 edition of our trip. Upon release of the official course of the race and gran fondo, the itinerary might still change accordingly.
